Product Overview

The Three Wing PDC Drag Bit is a high-efficiency rotary drilling bit specifically designed for soft to hard rock formations. By combining a streamlined three-wing blade structure with highly wear-resistant PDC diamond cutters, this bit achieves an ideal balance between penetration speed, drilling stability, and cost-effectiveness.

It performs exceptionally well in complex formations such as red sandstone, mudstone, coal seams, shale, slate, marble, and backfill layers, making it widely used in coal mine safety, infrastructure construction, water well drilling, and geothermal projects.

Design & Performance Features

High-Efficiency Rock Cutting

Three-wing streamlined blade layout with densely arranged PDC cutters enables shear-type rock breaking, significantly outperforming traditional drag bits in soft formations.

Smooth Cuttings Removal

Large junk slots and optimized hydraulic design ensure cuttings are rapidly removed from the borehole, keeping the bottom clean and preventing bit clogging.

Excellent Directional Control

Reinforced bit body and gauge protection provide superior guidance during spudding and drilling, helping maintain verticality and reduce hole deviation risk.

Wide Formation Adaptability

Designed for formations with Protodyakonov hardness coefficient F1-F<8, ideal for coal seams, mudstone, shale, sandstone, limestone, and other soft to hard formations.

Operating Guidelines & Tips

Spudding Recommendation

When drilling in loose or complex surface layers, apply moderate weight on bit with higher RPM to ensure smooth spudding and accurate guidance.

Drilling Parameters

High penetration rates are achievable in soft formations, but proper matching of WOB and RPM is essential to protect both bit and borehole quality.

Flushing & Cooling

Ensure sufficient air or mud flow to effectively cool PDC cutters and evacuate cuttings.

Casing Drilling

When used as a casing bit, select the bit size according to the outer diameter of the casing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this three wing PDC drag bit suitable for hard rock or granite formations?
A: No. This bit is specifically designed for soft to hard formations with Protodyakonov hardness coefficient less than F8. For hard rock formations like granite or basalt, we recommend other PDC bit models or tricone bits.
Q: What are the advantages of PDC drag bits compared to tungsten carbide drag bits?
A: PDC drag bits offer faster penetration rates, longer service life, better stability, and lower cost per meter drilled.
Q: Can this PDC drag bit be used for air drilling?
A: No. According to formation conditions and cuttings removal requirements, the bit requires mud or water circulation drilling methods.
Q: Do you offer custom sizes and thread connections?
A: Yes. We provide customized diameters and special thread connections upon request.
Q: What is the expected service life of this PDC drag bit?
A: Under recommended operating conditions, a single bit can drill several hundred to over a thousand meters, depending on formation conditions and operating parameters.
Q: What are the delivery times for standard and customized orders?
A: Standard sizes are usually in stock with 7-day delivery. Custom products typically require 7-20 days for production.
